He was born on January 26, 1951.

He graduated from the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration of Cairo University in 1975.

He joined the Foreign Service on 14 January 1976

1982-1984 Special Secretary to Dr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

1988-1989 Press adviser to Dr. Esmat Abdel Meguid, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Assistant Foreign Minister and Director of the Office of the Minister, Mr. Amr Moussa, from 1999 to 2001.

He served as Egypt’s ambassador to Berlin from 2001 to 2008, and served in the Egyptian embassies in Kuwait, London, Washington, and Tel Aviv.
