Ali E. Hillal Dessouki: Professor of Political Science, Cairo University, Egypt, member of: the Supreme Council of Culture, the Committee for Academic Accreditation – the Supreme Council of Universities, and Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the Center for Arab Unity Studies (Beirut), Editor in Chief of the Quarterly Contemporary Arab Affairs Journal published by the University of California Press.
He served as: Member of Al Shoura Council- Upper House of the Parliament (2007-2010) , Minister of Youth (1999-2004) , Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University (1993-1999), Director, Center of Political Studies and Research of the same university (1986-1993) and Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities (1991-1994). Elected President of the Arab Association of Political Science (1988-1990 and 2004-2007), and was visiting professor at: the American University in Cairo, the University of Calgary (Canada), University of California – Los Angeles, and Princeton University .
He published extensively in Arabic and English. His recent publications in Arabic include : Renewal of Egyptian Modern Political thought (2018), Great Powers and Arab Unity 1915-2015 (2017), Return of the State (2015), Comparative Politics: From Behaviorism to Globalization (2015), The Struggle for Establishing a New Political System in Egypt (2013), The Political System of Egypt 1981-2010 (2010), and in English: Arab Foreign Policies : the Challenge of Globalization in collaboration with Bahgat Korany (2008). His papers were published in: Armed Forces and Society, The Canadian Journal of International Relations, The Washington Quarterly.
