On August 5, 2021, ECFA hosted a delegation from the Coordination Committee of Parties’ Youth Leaders and Politicians (CPYP), comprising members of the House of Representatives, the Senate, and executives; to introduce the Committee, as well as to get acquainted with the Council’s activity and its vision on the main foreign policy files raised at the present time, and to discuss opportunities for cooperation with it. The meeting was attended on the part of ECFA by Ambassador Dr. Ezzat Saad, ECFA Director, Ambassador Marwan Badr, Prof. Dr. Sayed Fleifel, and Dr. Ahmed Hafez, while the CPYP delegation included Mr. Bilal Habash, Deputy Governor of Beni Suef, and from Members of the House of Representatives, Ladies and Gentlemen, Amira Saber, Ahmed Makled, Tareq Al-Khouli, Emad Khalil, Rasha Abu Shakra, and members of the Senate Messrs. Mahmoud Al-Qat, and Hazem Helal, as well as Dr. Hoda Raouf, CPYP Counselor.

In this context, the two sides exchanged introducing their respective fields of work, visions and objectives, as well as the mechanisms that are relied upon in managing the tasks and activities undertaken by both entities. The CPYP delegation affirmed the importance of communicating with various executive and research institutions, including the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs, in order to form an integrated and continuous network that would serve Egyptian interests and enhance Egypt’s national security. On their part, ECFA representatives hailed the importance of dialogue with the CPYP, as it includes youth political cadres with different and diverse intellectual currents, which can be benefited from to achieve the Egyptian national goals.

In a related context, the CPYP members raised a number of inquiries regarding issues of concern to the Council, most notably: what was mentioned about Israel enjoying the status of observer in the African Union; The issue of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam; Developments in the State of South Sudan and their effects in the region; Iranian interventions and scenarios for dealing with them; The issue of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee withdrawal of the authorization granted to the White House to use military force and declare war, and its impact on the ability of the current administration to defend issues of democracy and human rights…etc; the role that Latin America can play in international politics; and the role of Eastern European countries in European politics; which were answered by the representatives of the Council as necessary.

The two sides agreed to continue bilateral contacts to find a formula by which they can strengthen joint cooperation between the two sides, with a view to promoting fruitful consultation and exchanging visions to serve the interests of the state and its national security. In this regard, it was proposed to sign a protocol or memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two sides, and ECFA welcomed the participation of CPYP members of in the conferences, workshops and other events and activities organized by the Council throughout the year.
