The Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs welcomes the initiative of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which was launched during his visit to AssuitGovernate on 17 May 2016, in which he demanded the Palestinian brothers to be united and avoid disputes. President El-Sisi called the Israeli leadership and the Israeli public Opinion to understand the importance of reaching a consensus on the peace process, stressing that Egypt is ready to provide all possible assistance to find a real opportunity to resolve the Palestinian issue.
ECFA confirms its support for the vision of President El-Sisi that despite the circumstances in the region, there is a real opportunity to achieve peace, and Egypt is ready in this context to make all necessary efforts to ensure the success of initiatives launched to resolve this issue.
ECFA appreciates that Mr. President’s remarks reflect the historic and pivotal role of Egypt in finding a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian question on the basis of the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem. Egypt stresses that the solution to this issue will be a crucial factor in returning the stability and security in the region. This was the objective residing behind the decision of Egypt’s historic peace agreement with Israel.
